New immigrants to Israel are given different immigrant statuses according to age, family status and whether they are returning residents or have never lived in Israel. | Absorption Basket – Sal Klita |
The absorption basket is a financial grant designed to assist new immigrants throughout their first months in Israel. The grant is given in eight installments, the first of which takes place at the airport upon the immigrant’s arrival.

| Income Insurance |
Income Insurance is a monthly grant given to immigrants who cannot work to support themselves, either temporarily or as a result of health and family conditions. | Customs Tax Grant |
New immigrants are exempt from customs taxes on furniture and household items, but home appliances are subject to tax. In return, new immigrants are entitled to a customs tax grant.
