There are numerous absorption options for new immigrants making their first steps in Israel. Apart from independent absorption, aided by governmental funding, you can choose to start off in an absorption center, a kibbutz or a special student absorption program. Find out everything about these options in this section.

Direct absorption

Direct absorption means that immigrants get comprehensive financial assistance and counseling, but undergo the absorption process independently: renting an apartment, registering for language studies, finding a job, etc. You can learn more in the Benefits to new immigrants section of this guide.

Absorption centers

Absorption centers are unique transitional frameworks that offer discounted accommodations, an Ulpan (Hebrew language school) and counseling in a warm atmosphere that facilitates the arrival in the new country. Staying in an absorption center should be arranged through Aliyah representatives abroad before coming to Israel.
